Visit to the Yukhari Govhar Agha Mosque in Shusha

On July 17, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow visited the Yukhari Govhar Agha Mosque in Shusha.

The guest was informed that during the occupation, 16 out of 17 mosques in Shusha were destroyed, and significant damage was inflicted on historical monuments. As a result of restoration works initiated by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in late 2021, the Yukhari Govhar Agha Mosque was returned to its original appearance. The mosque was inaugurated on May 10, 2023, with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.
