Visit to the Saatli Mosque

On March 12, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited the Saatli Mosque in Shusha.

The Saatli Mosque, was constructed in 1883 based on a design by architect Karbalayi Safikhan Karabakhi. The Saatli Mosque, a 19th-century architectural monument, stands on a site of an adjacent madrasa and mosque where Molla Panah Vagif taught. During the occupation of Shusha, the Saatli Mosque, like other mosques, was destroyed by Armenians. Restoration work on the mosque began in December 2021 under the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and the mosque was reopened in May of the previous year.
