March
On March 12, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited the city of Shusha to view the statues of Azerbaijan’s renowned figures Natavan, Bulbul, and Uzeyir Hajibeyli, which had been shelled by Armenians during the occupation of Shusha.
During the occupation, the Armenians attempted to take these statues to Armenia to melt them down. However, thanks to the initiative of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the statues were retrieved from Armenia and brought to Azerbaijan, where they were kept in the courtyard of the Museum of Art in Baku. After Shusha was liberated from occupation, the statues were restored to their original locations in Shusha on the orders of President Ilham Aliyev.
