Viewing the statues of Natavan, Bulbul, and Uzeyir Hajibeyli

On August 23, during their visit to the city of Shusha, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and his wife Ziroatxon Mirziyoyeva viewed the statues of Azerbaijan’s renowned figures Natavan, Bulbul, and Uzeyir Hajibeyli, which had been shot at by Armenians during the occupation period.

It was brought to the attention of the guests that during the occupation, the Armenians had taken these statues to Armenia with the intent to melt them down. It was noted that, on the initiative of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, these statues were retrieved from Armenia and brought to Azerbaijan, where they were kept in the yard of the Museum of Art in Baku. After Shusha was liberated from occupation, these statues were returned to their original locations on the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev.
