Review of the Master Plan of Aghdara city
On January 13, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev reviewed the Master Plan of the city of Aghdara.
According to the Master Plan, the city’s settlement area will be expanded from 444 hectares to 522 hectares. Over a 20-year perspective period, the city’s population is projected to reach 14,000 people. The conceptual scheme of the Master Plan includes a city center, individual and low-density residential areas, multifunctional and public-business zones. In addition, the establishment of a terraced park, a riverside boulevard, agro-tourism, industrial, and logistics zones is planned.
Alongside with the Master Plan, detailed solutions have been prepared for the area of Aghdara city that will be reconstructed in the first phase. It is planned to increase the city’s housing stock to 420,000 square meters, as well as to build an 80-bed hospital, 5 schools with 2,520 places for students, 5 kindergartens with 840 places, and a vocational school. In the first phase, development of the city center covering an area of 104 hectares is planned. By 2030, it will be possible to resettle 3,590 people in the city. The total length of roads and streets will be 46.8 kilometers, while bicycle lanes will extend for 10 kilometers. Within the framework of the project, architectural designs for public and residential buildings have also been developed.
