Press conference of President Ilham Aliyev with the Chancellor of Germany

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholtz held a joint press conference on March 14.

During his speech at the press conference, President Ilham Aliyev touched on the issue of regional security, expressed Azerbaijan’s position on the Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization process, informed German media representatives about the 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s land being under Armenian occupation for nearly 30 years following the First Karabakh War, and one million Azerbaijanis being expelled from their native land by Armenia and becoming refugees, however two and a half years ago, as a result of the Patriotic War, we restored our dignity, territorial integrity, and rights on the battlefield, and we defeated Armenia and forced them to withdraw from our lands. President Ilham Aliyev underscoring that Armenia, which failed to comply with four UN Security Council resolutions over 28 years, must now come to terms with its defeat within just 44 days, noted that now is the time for peace. He said that we have offered Armenia a peace and a peace treaty based on 5 principles, and expressed his hope that Armenia will not miss this chance, and finally, the era of peace and cooperation will begin in the South Caucasus.
