President Ilham Aliyev’s meeting with Special Representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations

On September 5, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Igor Khovaev, Special Representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations. The meeting focused on discussions about the situation in the region and the opening of the Aghdam-Khankendi and Lachin-Khankendi roads.

The head of state highlighted that despite Azerbaijan’s invitations to representatives of the Armenian population in the Karabakh region to discuss reintegration issues in Baku and other cities of Azerbaijan, they had declined. Igor Khovayev stated that Russia will continue its efforts to normalize relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and ensure lasting peace in the region.
