President Ilham Aliyev’s interview with Azerbaijani TV channels in Munich

On February 18, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev gave an interview to Azerbaijani TV channels after the plenary session on “Moving Mountains? Building Security in the South Caucasus” in Munich.

During the interview, stating that the situation in the region has completely changed since the Second Karabakh War, new realities have emerged, and these realities have further strengthened Azerbaijan’s position, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that while some may not want to accept these new realities, they will have to come to terms with them. The head of state also mentioned that Azerbaijan’s position is unequivocal and clear, and we have never allowed and will never allow external forces to interfere in our internal affairs.

Regarding the normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, President Ilham Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan’s position is entirely logical. We want this normalization to happen soon and for the period of hostility to be left behind. If the Armenian side finds the will and strength, I am sure that it will be possible to achieve this in the near future. President Ilham Aliyev also noted that we want the Karabakh issue to be removed from the international agenda. We cannot allow the Karabakh issue to be included in any agreement to be signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
