Opening ceremony of Victory Park in Khankendi

On December 24, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony of Victory Park in the city of Khankendi.

44 steps have been built from the entrance to the Triumphal Arch of Victory Park, the foundation of which was laid in February 2025 and has a total area of ​​9 hectares. In the central part of these steps, information panels have been installed describing the course of the war, including the names of liberated settlements. At the same time, the panels also contain information reflecting the results of the anti-terror operation carried out in 2023.

The height of the Victory Arch is symbolically 44 meters, corresponding to the number of days of the Patriotic War. The structure consists of 10 floors and a terrace. On the terrace, a construction symbolizing the number 8, representing the Victory Day, has been erected. On the ninth floor, the Victory Gallery exhibition hall has been created. Large-scale landscaping and construction have been carried out across the park, including the installation of fountains and systems for lighting and music. Special attention was paid to preserving existing trees during the construction. In total, more than 500 trees and over 11,000 shrubs and flowers have been planted in the park.
