Opening ceremony of the Soyugbulag small hydroelectric power station in Kalbajar

On August 25, during their visit to the Kalbajar district, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva participated in the opening ceremony of the Soyugbulag small hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 5.3 MVA, owned by Azerenergy Open Joint Stock Company. During the ceremony, the President activated the Soyugbulag small hydroelectric power station.

Soyugbulag small hydroelectric power station, located on the water-abundant Tartar River passing through the Kalbajar district, was completely rebuilt by Azerenergy. Following the President’s directive to transform the liberated territories into a green energy zone, Azerenergy reconstructed the main water intake facility of the hydroelectric station, a 6-kilometer-long derivation pipeline, and the machine hall. The station is equipped with European-made, green-certified, two modern eco-turbines, generators, control and automation panels. To integrate the station into the energy system, a 6-kilometer-long 6 kV cable line was laid, and it was also connected with an optical cable line. A backup diesel generator was also installed on-site for emergency situations. The Soyugbulag small hydroelectric power station, fully integrated into the energy system, is connected to a centralized SCADA system, enabling remote management. The station will produce 15.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.
