Opening ceremony of the Khankendi-1 power substation

On December 23, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony of the 110/35/10 kV Khankendi-1 power substation of Azerenergy OJSC in the city of Khankendi.

In line with President Ilham Aliyev’s instructions on establishing a sustainable electricity supply infrastructure in the liberated territories, a modern enclosed-type 110/35/10 kV substation meeting urban grid standards has been constructed in the city of Khankendi. To connect Khankendi and surrounding areas to the national energy system, a high-voltage transmission line with a total length of 11 kilometers, 1.8 kilometers of which is underground cable, was laid from the city of Shusha to Khankendi, passing through difficult mountainous and forested terrain. This facility is the first enclosed-type substation built in the liberated territories in the 110 kV voltage class. All equipment and installations, including transformers, are installed indoors.

The substation is equipped with a modern microprocessor-based digital control center. This Micro-SCADA system was developed by specialists of Azerenergy and was implemented for the first time specifically in Khankendi. The system enables real-time monitoring, management, and event tracking of high-voltage power lines and equipment. From this substation, the city of Khankendi as well as the districts of Aghdara, Khojaly, and Khojavend will receive reliable and uninterrupted power supply.
