Opening ceremony of the Aghdam Imarat Complex following its restoration
On September 19, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the Imaret Complex in Aghdam city after its restoration.
In accordance with President Ilham Aliyev’s directive, restoration and archaeological research works began at the Aghdam Imarat Complex in 2023, involving both local and international experts. Covering an area of 3.3 hectares, the complex includes ceremonial buildings, mausoleums, a historic cemetery, an equestrian complex for the presentation of Karabakh horses, and a visitor center. The newly created Karabakh Horse Park within the complex will host auctions of the globally renowned Karabakh horses, along with training sessions and show programs featuring these horses at various times.
Currently, the second phase of archaeological research is ongoing in the 6,000-square-meter historical cemetery located within the complex grounds. New historical facts have been uncovered as a result of these investigations. The Aghdam Imarat Complex is now open to visitors. Guests and tourists visiting the complex can use the services of the park, visitor center, museum, and cafe established here.
