Opening ceremony of Shusha Hotel-Congress Central Complex

On May 10, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, and family members participated in the opening ceremony of the Shusha Hotel-Congress Central Complex. The complex, foundation of which was laid on August 29, 2021, with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, is designed in both classical and postmodern architectural styles and features a complex structural design.

The interior design of the building reflects the diversity and richness of Azerbaijan’s climate, culture, and history. The exterior of the complex incorporates ornamental compositions and national architectural elements. Additionally, local stone used in the construction of Shusha’s historical buildings was applied for the facade cladding. The balconies, as well as the north and south facades of the center, were crafted in traditional architectural style using wood materials (primarily oak) similar to those used in the construction of Shusha’s historical buildings, such as the 19th-century Zohrabbeyov’s house and the Uzeyir Hajibeyli house-museum. The facade covering of the building and the vestibule entrance are adorned with relief carvings made from natural Shusha stone. The complex features 154 rooms, conference and banquet halls, a restaurant, a pool, a spa, a fitness center, and other service areas.
