Opening ceremonies of small hydroelectric power stations in Lachin

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the inauguration of the Zabukh and Garigishlag small hydroelectric power plants (SHPP) owned by Azerenegy OJSC in the Lachin district.

Zabukh SHPP has a capacity of 2.8 MW and Garigishlag SHPP has a capacity of 4 MW. 8-9 million kilowatt-hours of green energy will be produced in Zabukh SHPP and 11-12 million kilowatt-hours in Garigishlag SHPP.

To integrate the stations into the energy system, new substations have been constructed and a new 35 kV power transmission line has been installed. A new optical fiber cable line has been laid, integrating the stations into the centralized SCADA system of the national energy network. This setup allows for digital control, intelligent management, real-time monitoring, and analysis, while also ensuring remote accessibility of stations from Baku. Given that the Zabukh River, which forms entirely within Azerbaijan’s territory and is a full-flowing mountain river, the station is expected to remain productive even during low-water seasons.
