Inspection of the Tombs and House – Imaret Complex of the Karabakh Khans in Aghdam

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the tombs and house – Imaret complex of the Karabakh khans in Aghdam on February 13.

Being one of the first estates of the khan dynasty, this historical and architectural monument of the 18th century consists of two buildings. While differing from other khan palaces in the territory of Azerbaijan, the palace has the characteristic of a luxurious residence. Therefore, it was also called Panah Ali khan’s palace. Like other historical, cultural, and religious monuments in the occupied territories, Panah Ali khan’s palace was desecrated and vandalized by the Armenians and was used as a stable.

The tombs of Panah Ali Khan, Ibrahimkhalil Khan, and Mehdigulu Khan Javanshir of the Karabakh Khanate, as well as their family members – Khan gizi, poetess and philanthropist Khurshidbanu Natavan, poet and public figure Jafargulu Khan Javanshir, philanthropist, Govharnisa Beymin, who built the Ashaghi and Yukhari Govhar Agha Mosques in Shusha, poetess Khanbika Khanum, a member of of “Majlisi-uns,” are located here. The Imaret cemetery, located near the khan’s palace, where many representatives of the dynasty of the Karabakh khans were buried, was also vandalized by the Armenians.
