Inauguration Ceremony of the Yukhari Vang Hydroelectric Power Plant

On September 2, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of the 22.5 MW Yukhari Vang Hydroelectric Power Plant, built by Azerenergy OJSC on the Tartar River in the Kalbajar district. President Ilham Aliyev launched the station.

Water is supplied to the Yukhari Vang HPP from two sources: the discharge of the Nadirkhanli HPP and the main water intake facility constructed on the Tutku River. A 110-kilovolt open distribution facility was built at the station, which is equipped with modern equipment, and a 24-core optical cable line was laid. Thus, the station was integrated into a centralized SCADA system, equipped with the most modern digital control systems, with necessary cybersecurity measures implemented. The Yukhari Vang Hydroelectric Power Plant is expected to generate up to 66 million kilowatt-hours of green energy annually. This means saving 15 million cubic meters of natural gas and preventing more than 27 thousand tons of carbon emissions.
