On May 28, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Occupation and Victory Museum Complex in the city of Lachin. During the ceremony, the President laid the foundation for the Lachin Occupation and Victory Museum Complex.
The complex, to be established in the Lachin district, will consist of the Occupation Museum, the Victory Museum, and a memorial park showcasing the ruins. The logo of the complex symbolizes the widespread juniper trees in the Lachin region, known for their unique beauty and natural richness. The selected site for the complex, which will cover an area of 3.5 hectares, is located on a slope. The museum building will feature a majestic and aesthetically pleasing architectural design. The building’s extension towards the slope signifies stability and resilience. Symbolically representing the rise from the earth towards the sky. The sloped form of the building, which partially extends below ground, will provide an internal area of 2,400 square meters.
The five-story museum will include a spacious foyer with a ticket sales center and administrative offices on the first floor. The second floor will house the Occupation Museum, the third floor will have a café, and the fourth floor will be dedicated to the Victory Museum. The fifth floor will feature a lounge and a bookstore, as well as a foyer providing access to the upper part of the building.
A memorial park will be established on the complex’s grounds, displaying remnants of many of the city’s destroyed historical and cultural monuments. The ruins included in the Memorial Park will be enhanced with artistic installations, creating an open-air museum.
