Groundbreaking ceremony for the Garakhanbeyli village

On September 14, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev laid the foundation for the new Garakhanbeyli village to be established in the Fuzuli district.

The village will accommodate residents of Garakhanbeyli and Merdinli villages, which were destroyed during Armenia’s occupation. The project will be implemented in two stages. The first stage, planned to be completed next year, will cover an area of nearly 87 hectares. During this phase, 404 families, totaling 1,861 people, are expected to be resettled. A total of 404 individual houses will be built, including 81 two-room, 202 three-room, 101 four-room, and 20 five-room houses. The plan also includes the construction of social infrastructure such as administrative and service buildings, a school, a kindergarten, a medical station, and approximately 16 kilometers of internal roads, as well as the installation of electricity, gas, water, and sewage systems.

The second stage, to be implemented in 2027–2030, will cover nearly 230 hectares. During this period, 1,075 families, totaling 4,093 people, are expected to be resettled. Within the second phase, 771 individual houses of two, three, four, and five rooms, along with two- and three-story residential buildings, will be constructed. The plan also envisions the construction of a school and two kindergartens. The population size and number of houses have been determined with consideration for the village’s projected development over the next 20 years.
