Foundation of the Shusha Radio-Television Broadcasting Station

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva laid the foundation of the Shusha Radio-Television Broadcasting Station on November 7. Shusha Radio-Television Broadcasting Station was built in 1966. During the Soviet period, radio and television programs were transmitted to Karabakh and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through this station. Until the occupation of Shusha, Armenians prevented the transmission of TV and radio programs to these regions by all means. As the station was repeatedly exposed to heavy artillery fire by the Armenians, the equipment here was damaged, and the technical building was seriously destroyed. When Shusha was occupied in 1992, the operation of the station went out of control.

After the liberation of Shusha from the occupation, radio and television broadcasts were temporarily resumed at the Shusha Radio-Television Broadcasting Station on December 31 last year. Broadcasting of 11 tv programs that broadcast from the station had been ensured in the Shusha, Khankendi, and Khojaly cities, as well as in Aghdam, Barda regions, and surrounding settlements. The 130-meter metal tower to be built according to the project will provide stable and high-quality radio and TV broadcasting. As a result, Shusha and surrounding areas will be provided with quality radio and television broadcasts.
