Groundbreaking ceremony for Secondary School No. 1 in Shusha

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, and their daughters Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva attended the groundbreaking ceremony for Secondary School No. 1 in Shusha.

In 1830, the foundation of the first secular school in Azerbaijan and the entire South Caucasus was laid here and in 1980, under the initiative of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the 150th anniversary of this school was celebrated. Before the occupation, this educational institution functioned as School No. 1, but it was completely destroyed as a result of Armenian vandalism.

To design and construct a new, fully equipped secondary school for 960 students, an initial allocation of 3 million manats was provided from the Presidential Reserve Fund to the Ministry of Education.
