Familiarization with construction work at Victory Park in Khankendi
On July 3, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev reviewed the ongoing construction work at the Victory Park in Khankendi.
The construction of Victory Park, foundation of which was laid by President Ilham Aliyev in February this year, is progressing rapidly. The park, spanning 8.3 hectares, has seen the demolition of several structures built during the occupation period in violation of construction standards and deemed unfit for use. Work is also underway on the construction of the Victory Arch, the symbolic centerpiece of the park, which will stand 44 meters high — corresponding to the number of days of the Patriotic War. An observation deck for visitors is being built at the top of the arch.
44 symbolic steps leading from the central plaza to the Victory Arch are also planned. These steps will feature information about the settlements liberated during each day of the Patriotic War. Elevators will be installed to allow elderly people, children, and persons with physical disabilities to reach the observation deck comfortably. According to the project, extensive green areas will be developed, preserving existing trees while planting more than 300 additional trees and over 9,000 decorative shrubs throughout the park.
