Expanded meeting with the President of Slovakia in Shusha

On July 14, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held an expanded meeting with President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini in Shusha. 

President Ilham Aliyev expressed his pleasure in welcoming the guests to Karabakh and expressed confidence that the visit of the President of Slovakia to Azerbaijan would provide additional momentum to bilateral cooperation. The Head of State noted that the broad composition of the two delegations reflected the dynamic development of Azerbaijan–Slovakia relations. President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that the reconstruction of Karabakh remains one of Azerbaijan’s key priorities as well as described the smart village project built by a Slovak company as a successful example of cooperation between the two countries and underscored the importance of the participation of Slovak specialists in the reconstruction of the region.

President of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini expressed his satisfaction with visiting Azerbaijan with a large delegation. He stated that he was pleased to be in Shusha and deeply impressed by the extensive reconstruction and infrastructure projects carried out in the liberated territories within a short period. Peter Pellegrini noted that he was proud of Slovakia’s participation in major projects being implemented in Karabakh and emphasized that Slovak companies and specialists are ready to contribute to new projects in the region in the years ahead.

Following the meeting, the heads of state exchanged gifts.
