The Baku Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network themed “Boosting the role of national parliaments in promoting global peace and sustainable development” has kicked off at the Heydar Aliyev Center. The conference started on June 30.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who participated on the first day of the conference, made a speech and greeted the participants of the conference.
During his speech, while emphasizing the importance of the event being held in the history of the Non-Aligned Movement and the establishment of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement in Baku, President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude to the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement for supporting this initiative of Azerbaijan, which is an additional step in the direction of boosting solidarity and mutual support.
During his speech, the head of our state also expressed his deep gratitude to the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement for their solidarity during the Second Karabakh War, when Azerbaijan restored historical justice and liberated its lands from enemy occupation while touching on the former Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, occupation of our territories by Armenians for 30 years, and forced displacement of 1 million Azerbaijanis from their homeland.
On the first day of the conference, the Baku Declaration and Regulations on the Rules of Procedure of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement were adopted, the official logo and flag of the organization were approved, and the chairman and vice-chairpersons of the organization were elected.
