On September 20, Colonel Anar Eyvazov, Chief of the Press Service of the Ministry of Defense, during the briefing to media representatives, stated that in the framework of the counter-terrorism operations, additional military equipment, combat positions, and shelters belonging to the other party had been neutralized. Video materials depicting these actions have been regularly shared with the public.
According to the information, more than 90 combat positions and several strategically significant heights where Armenian armed forces’ units were deployed have been brought under the control of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. Additionally, 7 military vehicles, 4 mortars, 1 tank, 2 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), and a substantial amount of ammunition have been seized by Azerbaijani forces.
Then the statement of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan was conveyed to the participants: “The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan announces that, considering the appeal from representatives of the Armenian population in Karabakh through the Russian peacekeeping contingent, an agreement has been reached to suspend the local counter-terrorism measures effective from 13:00 on September 20, 2023, under the following conditions:
1. The Armenian armed forces units and illegal Armenian armed groups in the Karabakh region of the Republic of Azerbaijan will lay down their arms, withdraw from combat positions and military posts, and be fully disarmed. Armenian armed forces units will leave Azerbaijani territories, and illegal Armenian armed groups will be disbanded.
2. Simultaneously, all weapons, ammunition, and heavy equipment will be surrendered.
3. The implementation of the above mentioned processes will be coordinated with the Russian peacekeeping contingent.”
