President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva inspected the restoration works carried out at the Imarat complex in the city of Aghdam.
Following President Ilham Aliyev’s instructions, work began on restoring the Imarat complex, which includes the palace of Panah Ali Khan. The restoration concept of the complex, developed by international experts, was presented to the head of state on October 4, 2022, and work commenced based on this concept. The complex will include Panah Ali Khan’s palace, tombs, and the Karabakh horses park, the Khan’s palace will be restored and function as an interactive museum.
As part of the visits of foreign experts to Aghdam, field inspections and filming were carried out, archival materials were examined, and restoration and design projects were prepared based on international experience. The complex will cover a total area of 3.3 hectares. The historical cemetery within the Imarat complex, which contains five remaining tombs, has been included in the research area. The interiors and surroundings of the tombs have been cleaned of waste and other residues from pig farming established by Armenian occupiers. Funding for the complete restoration of the complex is planned to be allocated by the Karabakh Revival Fund.
