Acquaintance with the projects of the Victory and Occupation Museums Complex

On May 28, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev reviewed the projects of the Victory and Occupation Museums to be built in the Aghdam district.

The Occupation Museum will be located near the ruins of the destroyed Aghdam State Drama Theatre, whose remnants will be preserved. A lake will be created in the area, with digital lighting projecting the silhouettes of historical buildings onto its surface, while the ruins of demolished structures will be kept in a memorial park. The main purpose of the museum is to visually present the difficult historical path endured by the Azerbaijani people during the 30 years of occupation. The museum will feature interactive displays on the history of Karabakh and Aghdam, the war period, the city’s destruction, and the Khojaly tragedy.

The Victory Museum will be constructed near the Flag Square, alongside the Victory Arena and the restored Bread Museum. Architectural design of the museum will symbolize the Gate of Shusha Fortress and the spirit of Victory, at the main entrance, a Victory Arch powered by solar energy will be erected. The museum will include exhibits of modern military equipment, unmanned aerial vehicles, operational simulations, and a hall dedicated to the memory of the martyrs.

The concept of the Victory and Occupation Museums Complex was developed by an Italian company.
