Acquaintance with the operation of the Khankendi Garment Factory

On February 19, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev got acquainted with the operation of the Khankendi garment factory, a joint Azerbaijani-Uzbek enterprise.

The factory, built on an area of 1.2 hectares, was established in line with the directives of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan to deepen economic and investment cooperation between the two countries. The total investment value of the project amounts to 11 million manat. 5.5 million manat has already been invested. Joint industrial cooperation is underway for the supply of raw materials to the factory. Additionally, once the factory operates at full capacity, a production facility for fabric weaving based on locally sourced cotton raw materials is planned.

Since the start of operations, the factory has produced nearly 50,000 sports shirts. Production of 924,000 shirts is planned for this year. In the future, the Khankendi garment factory is expected to manufacture 3 to 5 million various knitted products annually.

In the initial phase of the project, 300 professionally trained workers have been employed. The enterprise paid special attention to the employment of citizens returning to the liberated territories and residents of surrounding districts. Overall, 800 jobs will be created at the enterprise.
