President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva inspected the ongoing restoration work at Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s House-Museum in Shusha.
Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s house was built in the 19th century in Shusha. The building started functioning as a house-museum in 1959. The museum, dedicated to the renowned composer and founder of Azerbaijan’s professional music and national opera, Uzeyir Hajibeyli, functioned until the occupation of Shusha. Of the 1,700 exhibits related to the life and work of the great composer, only 136 survived the destruction caused by Armenian forces, while the rest were destroyed.
The restoration works at Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s House-Museum are being carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
