Acquaintance with the Mehmandarovs’ Estate Complex

On August 23, during the visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and his wife Ziroatchon Mirziyoyeva to the city of Shusha, distinguished guest and his wife got acquainted with the Mehmandarovs’ Estate Complex.

During the visit, it was noted that this complex was built in the 18th century by members of the Mehmandarov family. The complex includes large and small residential buildings, a family mosque, and a spring. Since October 2021, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been carrying out restoration and repair work on the Mehmandarovs’ estate complex, including the family mosque and the spring on the property. A historic carriage from the early 20th century, located in the courtyard, has also been restored according to the technologies of that period. After the restoration work, a museum exhibition was set up in the mansion complex. The exhibition, themed “The House of a Karabakh Nobleman,” recreates the interior of a Karabakh nobleman’s house from the late 19th to early 20th centuries, highlighting the lifestyle of an intellectual person of that era. Over 150 antique items were used in the exhibition’s design.
