On July 21, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inspected the progress of construction work at the 90-bed Shusha City Hospital.
The foundation of the Shusha City Hospital was laid on November 7, 2021, with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva. Construction work on the hospital building, which covers an area of approximately 3.7 hectares, began in January of this year. The hospital complex will consist of six buildings: four four-story and two one-story. The basement of the building will be used for inpatient medical services and as a shelter, and if necessary, it can function as a military hospital. The inpatient service will include departments of reception, therapy, pediatrics, surgery, obstetrics, gynecology, infectious diseases, anesthesiology-resuscitation, and hemodialysis.
The outpatient service area will feature a consultative polyclinic, a children’s polyclinic, radiological diagnostics, functional diagnostics, physiotherapy, and medical rehabilitation departments, as well as a clinical diagnostic laboratory. The hospital’s Emergency Medical Station will be equipped with modern, high-cost medical equipment, including a 1.5 TL magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine and a 32-slice computed tomography (CT) scanner. The station will operate with four brigades per shift. Additionally, on the grounds of the Shusha City Hospital, a Hygiene and Epidemiology Center, a Forensic Medical Examination and Pathological Anatomy Unit, and buildings for infectious diseases and hemodialysis will be constructed.
