On December 21, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev got acquainted with the restoration work at the Ashaghi Govhar Agha Mosque in Shusha.
One of the largest restoration projects undertaken by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Shusha is at the Ashaghi Govhar Agha Mosque, due to the scale of the damage. Ashaghi Govhar Agha Mosque was built by the architect Karbalayi Safikhan Karabakhi in the 19th century. Ashaghi Govhar Agha Mosque, a historical cultural monument, was vandalized by Armenians during the occupation. In recent times, local and international experts have conducted assessments and restoration plans for the mosque. Accordingly, with the support of PASHA Holding, restoration and repair works are being carried out in the mosque. The restoration works are carried out under the supervision of specialists from Austria, Italy, Latvia, and Türkiye. During this period, the minarets of the mosque have been restored, and various repairs have been made, including the replacement of the roof and floor coverings. Restoration and repair work at the mosque are ongoing.
