Trilateral meeting in Moscow
At the invitation of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev paid a working visit to Moscow on January 11. During the visit, a trilateral meeting was held between President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
During the meeting, Vladimir Putin expressed his gratitude to the guests for accepting the proposal to jointly discuss the progress in implementing the Trilateral Statement signed on November 10, 2020, the elimination of existing problems, and the next steps toward restoring peaceful life in the region, he also thanked them for positively assessing Russia’s active mediation efforts aimed at stopping bloodshed, stabilizing the situation, and achieving a lasting ceasefire.
Following the trilateral meeting, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan made statements to the press. The heads of state noted that the Trilateral Statement signed on November 10, 2020, had been successfully implemented and that the Russian peacekeeping mission was effectively fulfilling its duties and they emphasized the importance of considering how to live together in the future, how to work toward the opening of transport routes, and how to strengthen regional stability and security.
While considering the trilateral meeting extremely important and useful, the heads of state noted that a working group would be established under the leadership of the deputy prime ministers of the three governments to take concrete steps for the improvement of the situation, for establishment of economic ties, for advancing infrastructure projects, as well as to ensure lasting peace, security, and sustainable socio-economic development in the region.
During the meeting, Vladimir Putin thanked the guests for accepting the offer to discuss the realization process of the trilateral statement on Nagorno-Karabakh signed on November 10, 2020, as well as further steps to overcome existing problems and establish a peaceful life in the region and expressed his gratefulness for their positive response to the active mediation efforts undertaken by the Russian side in order to stop the bloodshed, to help stabilization of the situation, and achieve a sustainable ceasefire.
Following the trilateral meeting, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan have made press statements. The heads of state noted the successful implementation of the trilateral statement signed on 10 November 2020 and the duty of the Russian peacekeeping mission effectively. They stressed the necessity to think about how to live together in the future, try to solve the problem of opening the arteries of transport, and strengthen regional stability and security.
While considering the trilateral meeting extremely important and useful, the heads of state noted that a working group headed by the deputy prime ministers of the three governments would be established for the development of the situation in the region, establishment economic relations, taking specific steps to develop infrastructure projects, ensuring lasting peace, security and sustainable socio-economic development in the region.
