Summit meeting in Lachin
On May 28, a Summit meeting between Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Pakistan was held in Lachin with the participation of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. The heads of state delivered speeches during the summit.
President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the symbolic significance of holding the meeting in liberated Lachin, noting that political, economic, and military cooperation among the three countries has reached a strategic level. He highly appreciated the support provided by Türkiye and Pakistan to Azerbaijan during the 44-day Patriotic War.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on Independence Day and highlighted the importance of trilateral cooperation in strengthening stability and development in the region. He particularly stressed the significance of joint efforts in the defense industry, transportation corridors, and energy projects.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in his speech, expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan and Türkiye for their support to Pakistan and described this trilateral platform as an important model of cooperation serving peace and prosperity in the region.
During the summit, the parties agreed to deepen cooperation in political, economic, energy, defense, and cultural fields, as well as to continue aligning their positions within international organizations.
