Opening ceremony of the House-Museum of Uzeyir Hajibeyli following restoration

On September 19, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony of the House-Museum of Uzeyir Hajibeyli in Shusha following restoration.

Restoration work at the museum, carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, began in April 2022. The restoration process included preparing analyses in accordance with the building’s original appearance, strengthening the foundation, restoring the flooring, facades, and roof, carrying out interior and exterior decorative works, installing doors, windows, and engineering-communication systems, as well as landscaping the courtyard area. The project also involved dismantling and cataloging the existing wall stones by size, excavating the damaged foundation areas, and conducting a comprehensive site clean-up. Also, samples were taken for material analysis and studied in a laboratory in Türkiye, conservation and restoration reports were prepared.

Inside the house-museum, walls and partitions were rebuilt, the floor was restored and reconstructed. The restoration of the courtyard’s stone wall included excavation and concreting of the foundation, masonry work in accordance with its historical appearance, and installation of decorative elements.

A new exhibition has been created as a result of the restoration work carried out in the museum building. The exhibits of the house-museum of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, which were saved according to the museum’s concept, are exhibited here.
