President Ilham Aliyev’s speech at the 2nd Shusha Global Media Forum

On July 20, the opening ceremony of the 2nd Shusha Global Media Forum themed “Unmasking False Narratives: Confronting Disinformation” was held. The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the Forum and answered the questions.

The forum, attended by more than 150 foreign guests from nearly 50 countries, including news agencies from nearly 30 countries, 3 international organizations, and 82 media organizations, served as a platform for joint discussion and action for the participants.  Within the framework of the Forum, four panel sessions on the topics “Impact Assessment: Identifying the Scope of Disinformation”, “Policies and Initiatives for Building More Resilient Societies Against Disinformation”, “The Influence of Artificial Intelligence on Reality, Media, and Disinformation: Promoting Media Literacy”, “Climate Action and Media” were organized. In the panel sessions, officials, media and civil society members, government and business stakeholders, as well as international organization delegates and media experts from various countries exchanged in-depth discussions and experiences.

Additionally, information was provided on the initiatives and preparations carried out in connection with the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, along with national efforts in combating the impacts of climate change, and the sustainable approach taken in the recovery and reconstruction of the liberated areas.
