Commissioning of the Zangilan tanker
On July 2, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the commissioning ceremony of the Zangilan tanker, constructed at the Baku Shipyard upon the order of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Closed Joint-Stock Company, and cut the symbolic ribbon marking the launch of the tanker. The tanker was named after the ancestral and eternal Azerbaijani land of Zangilan, liberated by our glorious army under the leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev.
Zangilan is the fourth national tanker constructed at the Baku Shipyard. Unlike the previously commissioned Lachin and Kalbajar tankers, Zangilan will transport both oil and chemical products, like the Academician Khoshbakht Yusifzadeh tanker. The new-generation tanker is 141 meters long, 16.9 meters wide, and the height of the side is 6 meters. The tanker, which can move at a speed of 10 knots per hour, will be operated by a crew of 15 people. The tanker has 6 cargo tanks with a total capacity of 9,212 cubic meters. Its deadweight is 7,875 tons.
