Opening ceremony of Zangilan and Shayifli hydroelectric power plants

On May 18, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the Zangilan and Shayifli hydroelectric power plants, operated by Azerenergy Open Joint Stock Company.

Azerenergy designed and constructed a series of Zangilan hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 42 megawatts at four locations along the Okhchuchay River, passing through the Zangilan district. Zangilan hydroelectric power plants represents the largest chain of power plants in the liberated territories and the Jahangirbeyli HPP from the Zangilan series was commissioned in 2023 with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev. The Shayifli and Zangilan HPPs have been prepared for opening, while construction at the Sarigishlag HPP was finalized.

Machine halls were built for Zangilan and Shayifli HPPs with a total capacity of 21 megawatts, each with a capacity of 10.5 megawatts. In line with the green energy zone concept, both plants will generate eco-friendly energy and are equipped with digital data transmission to the central control center and remote management capabilities. A micro-SCADA system has been installed, along with 25 kilometers of new high-voltage transmission lines and a 24-core optical cable line for data transmission.
