Groundbreaking ceremony for the Turshsu settlement

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev laid the foundation for the Turshsu settlement in the Shusha district.

Before the occupation, Turshsu was the second most populated Azerbaijani settlement in the Shusha district, after Shusha city. Located approximately 17 kilometers from Shusha city, along the Shusha–Lachin road, the settlement was occupied on May 15, 1992. According to the 1989 census, 755 people lived in the settlement. The settlement had individual houses, a medical point, hospital, cultural center, library, school, TV transmitter, power substation, kindergarten, music school, club, and other facilities. All the infrastructure was completely destroyed during the occupation.

Currently, 353 families, comprising 1,403 people, are registered in the Turshsu settlement. The redevelopment project plans to cover a total area of 126.46 hectares. In the first phase, reconstruction will be carried out on 79.37 hectares.
