Acquaintance with the ongoing restoration work at the Ashaghi Govhar Agha Mosque

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva got acquainted with the ongoing restoration work at the Ashaghi Govhar Agha Mosque in Shusha.

The restoration is carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation with the support of PASHA Holding. The project involves experts from Austria, Italy, Latvia, and Türkiye. The mosque, constructed in the 19th century by architect Karbalayi Safikhan Karabakhi, was the first mosque built in Shusha by Govhar Agha, the daughter of Ibrahim Khan. During the occupation of Shusha, the Ashaghi Govhar Agha Mosque endured the acts of Armenian vandalism. The building and minarets of the mosque were seriously damaged by the fire of Armenian armored vehicles.
