Opening ceremony of the Shirin Su bathhouse after restoration

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of the Shirin Su bathhouse in Shusha after its restoration.

The restoration works carried out since 2022 in the Shirin Su bathhouse by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation have been completed. The Shirin Su bathhouse was originally constructed in 1880. In the past, other bathhouses of the city used saline well water. This bathhouse was supplied with fresh water brought to Shusha by Khurshidbanu Natavan, the daughter of the khan. This is why it was named Shirin Su (Sweet Water) bathhouse. After Shusha was occupied by Armenians in 1992, unauthorized changes were made to the architectural style of the bathhouse, additional structures were built, and the bathhouse was left in a state of disrepair.
