Opening ceremony of Aghdam Juma Mosque after restoration

On April 25, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov attended the opening ceremony of Aghdam Juma Mosque after restoration.

As part of the restoration projects of historical, cultural and religious monuments in the territories liberated from occupation, the work on the Aghdam Juma Mosque has been completed and the mosque has been restored to its former appearance. Juma Mosque in Aghdam city was built by the architect Karbalayi Safikhan Karabakhi in 1868–1870. While the city was under the Armenian occupation, the Juma Mosque was burned and vandalized by the Armenians.

After the liberation of our lands from occupation, the restoration of Aghdam Juma mosque started in March 2022. The conservation and restoration efforts were carried out in accordance with the mosque’s original architectural style by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. In addition to local specialists, foreign specialists and the Austrian company Brugger&KO Restaurateuren GmbH were involved in the restoration works carried out with the support of PASHA Holding.
