Acquaintance with the works carried out in thePanah Ali Khan’s Palace and Imarat Complex in Aghdam

On April 25, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov visited the Panah Ali Khan’s Palace and Imarat Complex in Aghdam to review the ongoing restoration work.

One of the historical-architectural monuments in the Aghdam district that was subjected to Armenian vandalism is the palace of Panah Ali Khan, the founder of the Karabakh Khanate. The complex includes historical monuments, the residence of Panah Ali Khan, a guest house, and several mausoleums, including those of Mehdigulu Khan, Khanoghlan Khan, Ibrahim Khan, and Panah Ali Khan himself, as well as the monument of Khurshidbanu Natavan and a cemetery. The Imarat cemetery, located near the Khan’s palace and where many members of the Karabakh Khan dynasty were buried, also bears witness to the Armenian brutality.

Restoration work on the complex has begun based on the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Also, on October 4, 2022, the tombstone monument of Khurshidbanu Natavan, an outstanding representative of the 19th century Azerbaijani romantic poetry, was inaugurated after restoration. The initial concept for the complex includes Panah Ali Khan’s Palace, mausoleums, a ticket office, an information center, and a park for Karabakh horses. The Panah Ali Khan’s Palace will be restored and function as an interactive museum.

After getting acquainted with the restoration work, presidents of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan viewed the Karabakh horses. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev presented a Karabakh horse as a gift to President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov.
