On May 27, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the village of Shalva in the Lachin district. During the ceremony, the head of state laid the foundation of the village.
The village of Shalva is located in the northern part of the district, on the banks of the Shalva River, at an altitude of 1,540 meters. The newly reconstructed settlement will include the nearby village of Imanlar. The total planned area for the project is 128 hectares. The construction of 445 individual houses is planned in the area. In the first phase, 130 individual houses will be built to accommodate 494 residents returning to the Shalva village. Additionally, an administrative building, cultural center, a 264-seat school, a 60-seat kindergarten, family health center, market complex, and other necessary infrastructure facilities will be constructed. The Shalva village music school, which operated before the occupation and continued its activities during the period of displacement, will also be rebuilt. The conservation of a historical temple from the medieval period located in the village is also planned.
