Trilateral Sochi Meeting

A trilateral meeting was held between the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in Sochi on November 26.

The main discussion of the meeting was to create mechanisms for demarcation and delimitation of the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia, to make progress on humanitarian issues, and finally to open a transport corridor that includes both railways and roads for the development of economic relations.

The parties expressed their interest in ending the confrontation between the two countries within one year after the trilateral declaration that was signed on November 10, 2020, recognizing the territorial integrity and sovereignty of each other, and starting to work on a peace treaty to promote living as neighbors in peace, stability, and security in the future.

While making a press statement after the meeting, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that they discussed all the issues on the agenda and analyzed the situation in depth while working constructively and agreed on a number of important issues and expressed their interest in the issues that would allow making the situation in the South Caucasus safer and more predictable.
