Official visit of the President of the Republic of Türkiye to Shusha and the signing of the Shusha Declaration

On June 15, President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan paid an official visit to the city of Shusha. After President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev welcomed President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and First Lady Emine Erdoğan in the Fuzuli district, the two Heads of State proceeded to the city of Shusha.

An official welcoming ceremony for the President of Türkiye was held in Shusha, a guard of honor was lined up in tribute to the Turkish President on the square where the national flags of both countries were raised, and the national anthems of the Republic of Türkiye and the Republic of Azerbaijan were played.

Following the official welcoming ceremony, President Ilham Aliyev and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a one-on-one meeting. After the one-on-one meeting, the Heads of State signed the “Shusha Declaration on Allied Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Türkiye.”

During their visit to Shusha, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and First Lady Emine Erdoğan visited the statues of Azerbaijan’s prominent figures Khurshidbanu Natavan, Bulbul, and Uzeyir Hajibayli, and also stopped by the Khan Gizi spring.
