Visit to the palace complex of Panah Ali Khan

On May 28, during his visit to Aghdam, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited the palace complex of Panah Ali Khan, the founder of the Karabakh Khanate.

Among the historical and architectural monuments in Aghdam district that suffered from Armenian vandalism is the estate of Panah Ali Khan, founder of the Karabakh Khanate. This 18th-century architectural monument, one of the first properties of the khan’s family, consists of two buildings. Unlike other khan palaces built across Azerbaijan, this was a luxurious residence. That is why it became known as Panah Ali Khan’s estate. Like many other historical, cultural, and religious monuments in the formerly occupied territories, Panah Ali Khan’s estate was desecrated and subjected to acts of vandalism by Armenians. It had even been used as a stable.

The Imarat Cemetery, located near the Khan’s Palace and the burial ground of many members of the Karabakh khan family also bears vivid testimony to Armenian brutality. The mausoleums of Panah Ali Khan, Ibrahimkhalil Khan, and Mehdigulu Khan, as well as the tombstone of Khurshidbanu Natavan are located in this site.
