Visit to the Karkijahan settlement
On December 23, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited the Karkijahan settlement of the city of Khankendi.
The settlement, which’s renovation work began in May of this year, currently has 33 residential buildings and 1,037 private houses. Of these, 247 are uninhabitable and 790 are partially habitable. It is planned to renovate 40 houses by the end of this year and 280 houses in 2026. Renovation work has already been completed in 30 houses. At the initial stage, a total of 115 residents, including 30 families, returned to the settlement – their ancestral homeland, from the cities and regions where they temporarily settled.
A number of social infrastructure projects have also been implemented in the settlement. In the area where individual houses are located water, electricity, and gas lines have been inspected, 2 kilometers of underground fiber-optic cable and 510 meters of power lines have been laid, lighting poles have been installed, street lighting has been ensured, and internal roads have been asphalted. At the same time, major renovation work has been carried out at Kindergarten No. 1 with 60 beds and at the full secondary school designed for 624 students.
As part of the visit, the Head of State visited the home of Karkijahan resident Yadigar Asadova and spoke with the members of the household.
