Inauguration ceremony of the Ashaghi Vang, Nadirkhanli, and Chaykend Small Hydroelectric Power Plants

On August 21, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the inauguration ceremony of the Ashaghi Vang, Nadirkhanli, and Chaykend small hydroelectric power plants of Azerenergy OJSC, located in Vang village of the Kalbajar district. During the ceremony, the Head of State launched the power plants.

The Ashaghi Vang (8.6 MW) and Nadirkhanli (8.8 MW) stations are projected to generate 48 million kW annually, while the Chaykend (5 MW) station will produce 15 million kW per year. Collectively, these facilities will provide green energy to approximately 32,000 people, enable annual savings of 16 million cubic meters of natural gas, and prevent 29,000 tons of carbon emissions.

Equipped with modern technology, the plants are integrated into the centralized SCADA system of the national energy grid. In total, 12 residents of Kalbajar have been employed at these facilities.

As a result, the total number of hydroelectric power plants in Karabakh and East Zangazur has reached 38, with an aggregate capacity of 307 MW.
