Acquaintance with the operations of the Businesstex JV Garment Factory

On July 3, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the operations of the Businesstex JV garment factory, an Azerbaijan–Uzbekistan joint venture located in the city of Khankendi.

The factory produces 150 types of men’s clothing, 300 types of women’s clothing, and 150 types of children’s clothing from various fabrics. Future plans include the production of men’s shirts, specialized uniforms, and military apparel. Currently, the factory manufactures 2,500 knitwear products daily, with production expected to increase to 10,000 units per day. Eighty percent of the output will be exported to various countries.

At the initial stage of the project, 250 trained professionals have been employed. In total, 500 jobs will be created at the enterprise. The factory primarily employs residents returning to territories liberated from occupation and those from surrounding districts.

The initial investment value of the project is 6 million manats. Joint industrial cooperation is carried out for the supply of raw materials. The factory operates using local, Turkish, Uzbek, and Chinese raw materials. The establishment of the enterprise was supported by a concessional loan of 3.5 million manats from the Azerbaijan Business Development Fund (ABDF) under the Ministry of Economy, along with exemptions from VAT and customs duties amounting to approximately 640,000 manats.
